A first birthday is so special, especially when you reflect on the past year and think about how tiny your little one was and how far they’ve come. While first birthdays are exciting, they can also be emotional. You may ask yourself, “how is my little baby already one?” Even though you look forward to watching your son and daughter grow up, a part of you may want them to stay forever young.
With a first birthday and/or cake smash photo session, you’ll be able to celebrate your little one’s first year of life while capturing memories that will last a lifetime. Recently, I was honored to photograph Shyla, a precious little girl who just turned one at Inniswood Metro Gardens in Westerville, Ohio. Her parents were repeat clients from my Easter live rabbit photoshoot.
I think it’s safe to say that Shyla ran the show. The session involved me chasing her around with my camera to get as many cute and candid shots as possible. I pretty much expected this as most one year olds are always on the move and aren’t the best at staying put for very long. Thankfully, I had a blast and I’m pretty sure she did too.
When it came time for her smash cake, she wasn’t sure what to do. Her mom helped her out and pressed her hands into it. She was more concerned about keeping her hands clean and cleaning them off afterward than actually enjoying the frosting. Shyla’s a cutie and I hope to be able to photograph her as she gets older.
I come into first birthday photo sessions with no expectations. After all, you never really know how a one year old will act. If your son or daughter is nearing one and you’d like to book a first birthday/smash cake session, I encourage you to learn more about the packages I offer, and to get in touch.
