Being a Columbus Newborn Photographer is filled with sweet moments like these!
I met Clarissa and her beautiful family last year during my seasonal Easter Bunny sessions! At the time, she brought in her sweet daughter McKenzie to have her photo taken. So, when she reached out to me recently to capture baby Monroe’s arrival to their family, I was over the moon to celebrate this moment with them!
For this particular newborn session, we created a mixture of big sister photos, family portraits, and classic portraits of baby Monroe. And let me tell you, baby Monroe’s big sister McKenzie is such a proud big sister. Seriously, it’s the cutest! She was so sweet, loving, and tender with her baby sister, and she had the biggest smiles all day! We were also particularly lucky on the day of this session because the weather was beyond gorgeous. That meant we got to sneak outside when it was time to shoot the family portraits. I’ll take gorgeous portraits filled with amazing natural light, any day!
But of course, baby Monroe was the “star of the show” that day so there was plenty of time to pose her for a variety of portraits. We started with some beautiful, soft baby wraps in pink and white, which we paired with a soft lace headband that had a cluster of white flowers on it. We also worked with a gorgeous mauve backdrop. For that portrait, I used a fluffy blanket to create the backdrop and paired it with a matching headband and blanket for baby Monroe! This tiny girl also got to dress up as a fairy princess for her shoot. She wore a sparkly pink tulle skirt and a fabric crown. But, as a Columbus Newborn Photographer, it is my firm belief that you can’t have a newborn session without capturing those tiny toes! So we made it extra special. I (very gently of course) placed mom and dad’s wedding rings on each of Monroe’s “big” toes. The end result was beyond beautiful and such an amazing way to honor mom and dad’s love for each other.
