There’s really no better way to celebrate Easter than with mini photo sessions that include live rabbits. Thanks to a rabbit breeder Aimee Kaiser of Heavenly Hollands Rabbitry, I was able to do just that.
All the rabbits were Holland Lops, which is the most popular rabbit breed in the U.S. They’ve been handled by Heavenly Hollands Rabbitry since birth and couldn’t be any cuter. I took these sessions at Jillian Renee Photography’s beautiful studio in Canal Winchester.
Fortunately, the rabbit owner was present and active during all the sessions. She was always an arms reach away during each session, and made sure everyone was safe and had a great time. I was thrilled because as you may know rabbits and children are not necessarily a safe combination.
If you look at my photos, you’ll notice that almost all of them are candid without any cues for posing. I did this on purpose because kids smile and laugh genuinely when they’re around animals like rabbits. This leads to beautiful, natural images that are often everyone’s favorites.
Even though the rabbits were a huge part of these sessions, the kids were the stars of the show. That’s why I made sure I captured images of just them, without the bunnies. I ended the Easter season with a day of sessions that featured The Easter Bunny. I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a blast at my Easter sessions and I can’t wait to do them again next year.
